Goldsmiths University of London, first established in 1891 as a Technical and Recreative Institute, is a public research Institute located in London, UK. The University is based in New Cross in south-east London, an area with a considerable art and music scene that has been described as ‘a hub of creative talent’ by The New York Times.
 
Goldsmiths University has been ranked top 10 in the UK for Art, Design, and Media and Communications by the 2014 Complete University Guide and has also been voted one of the UK’s top creative universities. Due to the University being internationally recognised for excellence in the areas of Art and Social Sciences, high-end facilities have been installed for its Art and Design, Theatre and Performance, Media and Communications, as well as Psychology departments. Furthermore, after completing their studies, many of Goldsmiths’ graduates work in internationally renowned companies, such as the British Council, BBC, Google, Sony and the Wall Street Journal.
