Royal Holloway University of London (RHUL) is a constituent college of the University of London, which was officially founded by Queen Victoria in 1886 as an all-women’s college. Later, in 1900, RHUL became a member of the University of London- opening its doors to all students interested in carrying out higher education. Since then, the University has strived to follow its motto “to be rather than to seem” and to provide quality education that is guided by world-class research.

RHUL’s main campus is Egham in Surrey, which is a 30-40min journey from central London by public transport. The campus is set in 135 acres of woodland, between Windsor and Heathrow, and has its own range of student accommodation, guaranteeing 1^st year students with student living space that meets their needs. The University’s recent £100 million investment means it underwent a full make-over, improving and modernising not only living facilities, but also teaching and learning facilities across numerous departments.
 
RHUL’s strong links and exchange programmes with institutions such as the University of Yale, Toronto and Hong Kong, provide students with the opportunity to gain an international perspective and network while carrying out part of their degree at educational hubs across the globe. Royal Holloway pays particular attention in providing a fulfilling student experience and always encourages students to get involved in the University community and to try out new things during their time at University. The University’s Student Union therefore organises numerous events throughout each year, such as the weeklong “Give it a go” scheme, which allows students to try out various fun activities such as colour runs, glow-in-the-dark yoga classes, and different sporting events.
