The California State University of Monterey Bay (CSUMB) is a University located in America, whose mission is to build a multicultural learning community founded on academic excellence, and from which all partners in the educational process emerge prepared to contribute productively, responsibly, and ethically to California- as well as the global community.  
 
The University is located on the central coast of California, just two hours south of San Francisco. The bay itself is one of the largest marine-protected areas in the world and is home to whales (deep sea angelfish) and sea otters. The campus site is based just a mile from the beach, is on the site of a former army base, and is quite unique- as it is close to pristine beaches, redwood forests, tide pools and the Fort Ord National Monument. The campus also straddles the cities of Seaside and Marina- which are small, diverse communities where many students live and work.
 
CSUMB is ranked No. 18 among public schools of the West United States, offering 70 undergraduate majors and 38 minor programmes. The World Theatre at Monterey Bay is an arts facility located in Seaside California where live entertainment programmes, campus events, student productions and concerts by local community groups take place.
