University of Central Lancashire (UCLan)**
Founded in 1828, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is a modern University located in the North West of England, in the city of Preston. The University is one of the largest in the UK, with a staff and student community of nearly 38,000.
 
UCLan offers over 600 Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes, with new degrees being added to its curriculum constantly. Undergraduate Medicine, Dentistry, Fashion, Forensic Science, and Aerospace Engineering, are a few of the University’s newly emerging disciplines.
 
The centre for World University Rankings ranked UCLan in the top 3.7% of all universities globally. The University’s exceptional quality in teaching and learning, research and knowledge exchange activities and commitment to academic excellence has been shown in the results of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework whereby UCLan’s research was assessed and judged as ‘world leading’ quality. UCLan is committed to offer students a world-class educational environment through various projects such as the development of a £30 million+ Engineering Innovation Centre (EIC), a £200 million University Campus Masterplan and the largest 3D lecture theatre in the whole of Europe. UCLan’s mission is to support graduate business start-ups with the university helping over 1,000 students start a business or become self-employed over the last 5 years and has been ranked second in the UK for this.

Lastly, UCLan ensures a smooth transition into student life by offering a number of support services, clubs and societies that students can get involved in and organising local events and student fairs. The city of Preston is surrounded by picturesque local parks and offers outdoor sports and activities as well as theatres, museums, markets, cinemas, libraries and the stunning Lake District. Preston’s railway can also allow for weekend escapes to other major cities such as London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester.
