University of Reading**
The University of Reading, established in 1892 as an extension college of the University of Oxford, is located in Reading, Berkshire in England. The University is home to 17,000 students from over 150 countries, and is now ranked in the top 200 universities worldwide.
 
As one of the most popular choices for higher education in the UK, the University of Reading offers over 350 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study, taught by leading academics in areas such as Applied Sciences, Pure and Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Business, and Arts.
The QS World University Rankings, 2018, ranked the University 28th in the UK and 188th in the world. The University of Reading also received a number of awards over the years, such as the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2005 to its department of Meteorology- for its training and research in Climate, Physical Oceanography and Weather. In 2012, Her Majesty the Queen presented the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education to the University of Reading’s Department of Typography and Graphic Communication. Additionally, the 2017 Guardian University Guide ranked the University of Reading’s Department of Film Production and Photography as 5th in the UK, and the 2016 Sunday Times University Guide ranked it 18th in the UK for Art and Design. Lastly, 95% of the University’s graduates find work or continue further studies only 6 months after graduating.
 
In collaboration with the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), the University of Reading established a joint academy that offers programmes through which students study in China for 3 years before going to the University of Reading for their final year. Students at the University also have the opportunity to study a foreign language alongside their degree, including Arabic, French, Chinese Mandarin, German, Greek and Italian. Students of the University are generally encouraged to get involved in different events and activities organised by the University, including public lectures, museums, cinemas, a sports park, student volunteering, music concerts, exhibitions, and art events.
 
Finally, Reading is home to the annual Reading Festival, one of the most popular music festivals in the UK, with over 87,000 people attending it to experience seeing some of the biggest names in music. Reading is a dazzling town with various pubs, bars and clubs, as well as beautiful parks and walking paths, and is ranked amongst the top 10 most popular green spaces in the UK.
