Shift Senior/Shift Leader
Job Description:
To care and advise for the physical and emotional well-being of each service user’s requirements in accordance with the Company’s Policies and Procedures. This will include participation in personal care, recreational activities, medication, educational opportunities, health and safety requirements and the full range of everyday living requirements.

Main Responsibilities:
The Shift Senior will communicate with his/her seniors in regard to the well-being of the service user and the general running of the care home and carry out other duties which may include:
Reporting defects and accidents, Adhere to Health & Safety Policy, Attend staff meetings, Attend training lectures/forums when required including all mandatory training, Attend to telephone calls and deal with visitors who attend the home in a polite and courteous manner.
The Shift Senior will participate in supervision and supervise staff.
The Shift Senior will organise and work with care staff to tend to the physical and emotional care of the service user. These will include:
Dressing, Washing, Feeding, Bathing, Toileting, Exercising, Promoting Continence, Assisting into/out of bed, Dealing with soiled linen/clothing, Assisting tidying rooms, Light Cleaning Duties, Serving meals and drinks, Medication.

Critical Factors:
• Relationships and communication with residents must be maintained to a very high standard
• To exercise confidentiality at all times
• To be aware of the individual Care Plan for each resident and to provide help and assistance consistent with the objectives of that Care Plan
• To demonstrate commitment and team working and respect for other team members
• The ability to recognise Health & Safety issues and report them to the Company
• Be empathetic towards the residents in respect of their care requirements.​

Qualifications and Experience:
NVQ 3 or above in Social Care
To have experience of working with people who have learning disabilities.
The ability to work according to a person-centred approach based on understanding, empathy and a commitment to non-aversive practice is required.
Good literacy and numerical skills are essential.
